From: Specific shifts in the endocannabinoid system in hibernating brown bears

Fig. 4

Fold change in gene expression of target genes involved in endocannabinoids biosynthesis and catabolism in brown bear muscle tissue. Muscle tissues were collected from bears at both winter-hibernating and summer-active time points (Supplementary Table S1), total RNA was extracted and expression levels were measured by RT-qPCR. Data are normalized against TBP mRNA levels and expressed as a fold change relative to the summer condition, represented as mean ± SEM of separate extractions and quantifications (n = 8). Paired Student t-test were used to compare wummer and winter data. * indicates p value < 0.05 when comparing seasons, NS: non significant. CNR1: cannabinoid receptor 1, CNR2: cannabinoid receptor 2, DAGLA: diacylglycerol lipase alpha, DAGLB: diacylglycerol lipase beta, FAAH: fatty acid amide hydrolase, MGLL: monoacylglycerol lipase, NAPEPLD: N-acyl phosphatidylethanolamine phospholipase D, SBM: summer bear muscle, WBM: winter bear muscle
