ONT eyeshine occurrence in other fish species. Additional examples of small, benthic fish species observed to exhibit ONT eyeshine: a Amblyeleotris periophthalma, b Ctenogobiops pomastictus, c Ctenogobiops maculosus, d Trimma cana, e Stonogobiops yasha, f Enneapterygius pusillus. Upper and lower images show the same individuals only moments apart. Slight differences in eye orientation direct the beam of ONT light either away from the observer and let the eyes appear normal (upper images), or towards the observer and reveal the ONT eyeshine (lower images).
