Complete proboscis stage is characterized by proboscis (pb) reaching the stomach (st). B. Hood stage is characterized by the anterior margin of the juvenile dorsal epidermis overlapping the proboscis (arrowhead). C. A complete juvenile inside the pilidium larva. At this stage the larva is competent to undergo metamorphosis.
